Phillip Littlemore, Musical Director, Ware Brass |
Phillip hails from the South Cheshire town of Sandbach, the home town of one of the world’s most famous brass bands, Foden’s. Joining them in 1981, at the tender age of 14, Phillip spent four years there before heading for the Guildhall School of Music, where he studied trumpet with Paul Cosh and later Rod Franks. After graduating from the Guildhall, Phillip developed a career in marketing firstly with Boosey & Hawkes Music Publishers and later The Guinness Book of World Records. He retained his connection with brass bands by playing with a number of bands in the London area, including stints as Principal Cornet with both Regent Brass and Redbridge. Phillip moved his banding ties back to the North by signing for the BNFL Band (now renamed Leyland) in September 1993 and remained on the front bench as a regular player until the Summer of 1996. This was some feat, as it meant a 350-mile round trip to Warrington from his North London home almost twice weekly!
